Open Studios 2019

May is here, and that means that it is time for my annual Open Studio event. part of the Henley Arts Trail and you’re invited. I will be welcoming visitors again this coming weekend from 4-6 May. Come and browse original paintings available directly at this event only. I am very excited about the new range of products that I am launching this week, twenty new greeting card designs, twenty new tea towel designs and four of my designs on plywood serving trays as well. Prints will be available to order too. The opening times are 10-5pm daily, or by arrangement if you cannot make it during the day. My venue number is 22. Not in the vicinity? A collection of smaller paintings will be available in my Etsy shop for global shipping.

Fundraising Raffle

In May I am also holding a raffle consisting of a selection of products created using my designs as licensed to homeware companies. The collection includes brightly decorated melamine picnic ware and paper napkins from PPD, measuring spoons from my range with Crate&Barrel, greeting cards from Cinnamon Aitch as well as a selection from my own new range of cards and notebooks plus a limited edition print. The retail value of this bundle is over £300. To go into the draw you need to buy one of my notebooks at £2 each: you can buy as many as you like, each notebook gets you one of 300 limited ‘raffle’ tickets and all funds will go towards Starfish Great hearts, a charity set up to help children with AIDS and HIV in South Africa. This charity deserves support, if you buy from Amazon you can set your account to benefit them with a donation from each purchase, at no cost to yourself. If you would like to see the contents of the hamper you can view it on my Instagram account in a post on Thursday.

Newbury Contemporary Art Fair

During the weekend of 10-12 May I will be artist in residence at the Newbury Contemporary Art Fair where an interactive art project will be created. I have been involved with the lovely people at Contemporary Art Fairs in Reading, Surrey and Windsor since 2012 to create collaborative paintings and artworks with the aim to get visitors young and old to be creative. For this event a large tree drawing on a canvas will be decorated with letter leaves. Participants will be adding their letter of choice to the painting, morphing it into a unique leaf or flower. I will guide the process, and by the end of the weekend the tree will be covered in living letters shapes transforming it into something spectacular. You can follow my instagram stories to see the progress during the weekend.

HAMPSTEAD HEATH AFFORDABLE ART FAIR

In March I was represented at the Battersea Affordable Art Fair by Wills Art Warehouse, and from 9-12 May a collection of my larger paintings will be exhibited at the Hampstead Heath Affordable Art Fair where I am represented by Iona House Gallery. I am currently taking part in a group exhibition in their gallery in Woodstock, Oxford until the end of May.

A NEW Explore Colour Course!

I am excited to tell you that I’ve created a new Explore Colour course. Detailed information about this online art course will be available later in May. It is a course developed to encourage play with an emphasis on simplicity and colour. Explore Shapes in Ink and Watercolour is a three week long course, running from 7-27 July. Designed to be done mostly in a watercolour paper sketchbook, with limited materials, the course is ideal to be done on a summer break, at a holiday destination, or a winter one if you happen to be in the Southern hemisphere. The course will be presented in daily mini-projects, exploring painting and sketching techniques to create a vocabulary of colourful shapes to be used as reference for bigger projects at the end of each week.. More information will be available later in May on Explore Colour
