Materials matter!
When professional quality watercolour is used in combination with white designer gouache wonderful things happen! Indulge yourself with a wide range of techniques to explore, from wet and wild to gossamer thin translucent watery layers and chalky opaque textures - so many possibilities with limited materials.
Colour mixing is my jam. I think of it a bit like alchemy and I would love to share some colour secrets and show you how to create dynamic artworks using limited colour combinations. Take a deeper dive into colour mixing and exploring the possibilities of colour values.
Watercolour and gouache are the main materials used in Floral Fusion but in this course you will also explore different creative mixed media processes including acrylic ink for blotting out and detailed line work, chalky white pencil textures, wax as resist and a touch of fluorescent pink just for fun! And of course brushes: I will show you techniques using my favourite paint brushes, sponges and a brayer!
The topic of florals in art and design is timeless. Every society and culture has used them in art and decoration since the dawn of mankind. There is an abundance of styles to choose from. In Floral Fusion you will create your own authentic floral artworks inspired by specific genres and styles. Plenty of Time
Life can get busy, I get that! Floral Fusion launches on 10 May and runs for three weeks. You can do the daily projects as they're released or you can take a slower pace, doing them over the next year in your own time. There's plenty of time to revisit projects.
Floral Fusion’s content is pre-recorded. There are fifteen projects in video format with notations to guide you. Videos are around 20-45 minutes and are edited you don’t have to “watch paint dry”.
